USA Swimming Competitive Team

HLHK: USA SWIMMING COMPETITIVE LEAGUE

HLHK SEALs Team: SEALs consist of swimmers who have the ability, desire and commitment to continue and develop their competitive swimming career with HLHK. This program is tailored for swimmers who have dedicated themselves to the sport of swimming, and are capable of consistently performing difficult training sets in practice, working towards becoming State finalists and Sectionals qualifiers.

Workouts are challenging and designed to help athletes qualify for the State and Sectional meet. In addition, many members of the SEALs swim concurrently with their middle and high school swim teams.

Principles of a HLHK Seal

SPIRIT

Maintain a positive attitude and give your best! Being a SEAL is a privilege.

COMMITMENT

Being a SEAL is a lifestyle. Commitment is required to help our athletes achieve their goals.

DEVELOPMENT

The Seals team is for the development of children athletes as a whole. The things we teach are also skills that they will be able to apply to be successful in life.

FUN

Work hard & have FUN doing it!

INTERGRITY & TRUST

We have a passionate group of coaches that believe that swimming is a vehicle for building great character. We encourage our swimmers to support their teammates and strive for excellence in and out of the water.

COMMUNICATION

Communication is a 2-way street… We are expected to keep you in the loop, and we expect for you to be engaged.

COMPETITION

Competition is inherent in the sport and necessary for improvement. We want our athletes to have a healthy attitude towards competing.

THE PROCESS

We understand the importance of laying a strong foundation for each athletes’ development. The process is never ending and ever evolving; we aim to teach our swimmers and parents to trust the process and enjoy the journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many practices a week are required?

We strongly encourage 3 practices per week. Minimum 2. Anything less will be a better fit for the non-competitive BUDS aka Seals In Training.

Yes, at least two swim meets per season is required.

  • Is there a cost for swim meets?

Yes, entry fees for the number of the events. Rates will vary.

We encourage swimmers to participate in the full swim meet, however, should you have prior engagements and/or schedule conflicts you can opt to swim the days of your choice.

  • What happens if I opt-in to a meet but unable to attend?

You will still be responsible for the fees if we are past the date to make changes per the meet host. Once the coaches enter the swimmers into the meet, HLHK is on the hook for the fees if changes are not made by the deadline set by the host team.
